I have 3 accounts, one that you described (hitting a stalled car at 3AM), another from the AP wire (His car was stalled/stopped at 4:30 AM and hit by a tractor trailer in fog), and one from my youth (which is probably hearsay) is that he flipped a van over getting back to Boston on gameday and that he and the white woman he was in the car with were hurt but not seriously. Now I'd normally just disregard the racist aspect of that third account of the accident, except that Moret was dumped in the off-season for Tom House. The racism of the Yawkey regime has been written about ad nauseum over the years.
